St.Ouen's School of Dancing has grown into a school of approximately 250 pupils.
The School was founded in 1992 as a Parish ballet School in the Island of Jersey by Mrs. Carol Hurry.
The School curriculum was originally based solely upon the Royal Academy of Dancing syllabus as this was and continues to be the most highly regarded and recognised dance organisation in the world with a syllabus taught in 82 countries worldwide.
Over the intervening years the school expanded offering classes in Modern dance, Tap, Street, National and Greek. The ISTD syllabus has been utilised for these forms of dance and more recently IDTA after the organisations merged interests with the RAD.
The school has an outstanding, unique and proud record in dance competitions.
Over the years we have competed and won many classes, including 'most outstanding performances' in local Eisteddfods, inter insular and National competitions including The All England Dance Finals.
A highlight was the school's success in the DANCE WORLD CUP a few years ago, when our Song and Dance group 'New World' won the most outstanding performance of the whole competition, becoming 'World Champions'!!
